Speaking backstage at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, where 'Adolescence' dominated with wins including Best Limited Series and individual acting honours, Graham was asked about the future of the series. His response was equal parts playful and tantalising. He told Deadline, “I cannot answer that question because it’s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack’s mind, and we’ll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned.”
That comment has sparked fresh speculation that the follow-up won’t be ready until roughly 2029 or 2030, if the creative process unfolds on that timeline.
‘Adolescence’, released on Netflix in March 2025, was originally marketed as a limited series, telling a self-contained story about a family rocked by a teenager’s involvement in a murder. Its four tightly-crafted episodes struck a chord with audiences and critics alike, becoming one of the platform’s most-watched English-language events.
Despite its success and multiple Golden Globe wins, there hasn’t been an official Netflix announcement confirming a second season, and creator Jack Thorne had previously indicated the first story felt complete on its own.
Graham’s latest remarks suggest that if a Season 2 does emerge, it may not pick up where the original left off. Instead, the creative team could revisit the world of Adolescence later, potentially exploring new characters or perspectives while keeping the show’s thematic DNA intact.
