What is the story about?
Cast: Avinash Tiwary, Medha Shankr, Govind Namdev, Lilete Dubey, Sudhir Pandey
Director: Prasshant Jha
Language: Hindi
The film introduces a fresh pairing with Avinash Tiwary as Sunny and Medha Shankr as Ginny. Movies need not be complex all the time,
Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 is a simple story of a tenth pass, small town man getting married to an English-speaking Delhi girl. And when you have such brilliant craftsmen in the film, a regular story can be a fun watch too.
Directed by Prasshant Jha, this sequel shows Ginny (Medha Shankr) and Sunny’s (Avinash Tiwary) chaotic, mismatched post-marriage life. The best thing is that the stories need not be twisted and complex, yet it can be engaging. Each of the supporting cast, Lillete Dubey, Sudhir Pandey, Govind Namdev, Gopi Bhalla, Nayani Dixit, Vishwanath Chatterjee, and Rohit Chaudhary, add value to the film and unlike other theatrical releases, the film doesn’t just focus on the lead actors, but all of them.
The relationship of Ginny and Sunny is chaotic, but endearing. It is like those old movies, which show tow people coming from completely different backgrounds and worlds falling for each other and both are ready to make changes in their life gradually. We see Ginny trying very hard to fit in. The film shows the coming together of two completely different worlds. And most importantly, the film shows that coming from different backgrounds, ethics may be different, but you don’t need to be judgmental.
Not denying that the movie is predictable and there is an overload of dialogues too, but don’t give it a miss. The film is surely not going to get us great numbers at the box-office because of the low buzz and in a lot of places one may feel that the actors have been underutilised, but the screen chemistry Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr is great. The performances of all the supporting actors are delightful.
