What is the story about?
Yash’s upcoming film 'Toxic' has found itself at the centre of intense online discussion following the release of its teaser. While a section of fans praised the video for its dark, stylised and intense tone, others flagged certain visuals as being bold and uncomfortable, sparking a wider debate on social media platforms.
Amid this chatter, an old interview clip of Yash has resurfaced and is now going viral. The clip is from Weekend with Ramesh, the popular Kannada talk show hosted by Ramesh Aravind, where celebrities engage in candid conversations about their careers, personal beliefs, and life choices. During his appearance on the show several years ago, Yash had made a statement that was widely appreciated at the time. He had said that he would never agree to do scenes that he would not feel comfortable watching with his parents. Here is the clip:

That remark, once seen as a reflection of the actor’s grounded and family-oriented image, has now become the focal point of online comparisons. With the Toxic teaser out, several netizens have begun juxtaposing Yash’s earlier statement with the visuals from the film, questioning whether the actor has moved away from the boundaries he once publicly spoke about.
Online discussions show divided opinions. While some viewers feel the teaser contradicts Yash’s earlier stance, others argue that cinematic storytelling has evolved and that context matters, especially when a film explores darker themes and complex characters.
In the teaser of 'Toxic', which is over two and a half minutes, drew attention for a sexually explicit scene to introduce Yash's character, Raya. Used to introduce him as a hypermasculine alpha male, a quintessential 'bad boy' who has no care for the world, it left people confused about whether it was really necessary to be put. However, it did achieve what it wanted to - make the teaser unforgettable and a topic of discussion for days.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, 'Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups' also features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria, apart from Yash. The film is jointly produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under their respective banners, KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. It is scheduled for Eid release, on March 19, and will clash with Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar 2' at the box office.
