The Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled the bail granted to actor Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case.
A bench of Justices J B Pardiwala and R Mahadevan set aside the Karnataka High Court order, saying it suffers from
various infirmities.
"We considered everything. The grant of bail as well as cancellation. It is evident that the high court order suffers from serious infirmities, instead it reflects a mechanical exercise and moreover, the high court undertook examination at pre-trial stage," it said.
The Supreme Court is set to deliver on Thursday its verdict on Karnataka government's plea to the cancel bail granted actor Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case.
A bench of Justices J B Pardiwala and R Mahadevan reserved
the order on July 24 after hearing arguments from both sides.
The bench was hearing a plea filed by the state government against the Karnataka High Court's December 13, 2024 order of bail to Darshan and the co-accused.
Actress and former MP Divya Spandana revealed how she was facing abuse and rape threats from actor Darshan who is out on bail in a murder case. When Divya aka Ramya spoke about the murder case the actor was involved in, she had to go through relentless trolling and abuse as stated above.
Bengaluru’s Cyber Crime Police registered a case after the actress and politician filed a complaint. The actress has now issued a statement in the matter and this is what she had to say:

I said the Supreme Court is a ray of hope for the common people of India who seek justice. That’s it. I didn’t even mention the actor. Post that, I received incessant trolling. And this is not where people just call you a prostitute or a slut, which I think is a sad thing women have come to be immune to.
