What is the story about?
Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Kriti Sanon are coming together for Cocktail 2 that releases in cinemas this Friday. The advance bookings have opened in limited screens and it has now come into people's notice that the CBFC has granted this romantic comedy an A cetrtificate.
With this, Sanon gears up for her first adult film. Starring Kriti Sanon in a never-seen-before avatar alongside the ensemble cast of Cocktail 2, the track has instantly become a talking point. As audiences caught the song on the big screen, reactions poured in, with fans left stunned by Kriti’s striking transformation from her intense role in Tere Ishk Mein to this bold, boho-glam look.
The trailer that failed to leave a mark
Cocktail back in 2012 was a menage-a-trois about Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. It marked Padukone’s 2.0 as an actor who could power even middling scripts. The narrative of the rom-com turned too screechy and melodramatic post interval but producer Dinesh Vijan revealed at the trailer launch of the sequel this one is a breeze.
What the trailer offers
The trailer (and also the film) follows the same template that made the first film work in 2012- A lot of style, sea, and sexiness dripping from every frame of the exceptionally extravagant enterprise. But the promo also reeks of hollowness with barely any scene registering. It may be too early to judge since this is just the tip of the iceberg.
To give credit, the makers have successfully retained the essence of the plot or the plot twist. There are rumours this could be a queer love story but we will have to wait till the 19th June. But the promo needed to be better and so did the soundtrack. One of the reasons why
Cocktail hit the bulls eye was its sensational music by Pritam.
