Blake Lively is reportedly facing one of the most turbulent phases of her career, with industry insiders suggesting that her standing in Hollywood may have taken an irreversible hit following her legal battle with Justin Baldoni. In the aftermath of the court’s recent rulings, several insiders have painted a grim picture of Lively’s future in the industry.
“Ruined in Hollywood”: What insiders are saying
According to a report in DailyMail, studio executives and industry voices believe the controversy has significantly damaged her reputation, with one insider bluntly stating that she has been “ruined” in Hollywood. The perception, as per these accounts, is not just about the lawsuit itself, but the wider narrative surrounding it. Allegations of difficult on-set behaviour and the prolonged public nature of the dispute have reportedly made studios wary of associating with her.
The publication quoted a Disney Studios executive saying, "This lawsuit has ruined her in Hollywood... the truth is she was never that popular. She had a reputation for being difficult, one of those toxic people who always thinks she knows best."
Another Hollywood source was quoted saying, "The general view now is that she's made her bed and she can lie in it. I don't think people in Hollywood are shedding tears over her."
A PR battle she may have already lost
Beyond the courtroom, the optics of the case appear to have worked against Lively. Public relations experts have pointed out that her messaging during the controversy lacked cohesion, potentially exacerbating the backlash.
The unsealing of private messages and industry communications has further complicated matters. Some executives were reportedly critical of her actions during the film’s promotion cycle, blaming her for amplifying negative press and mishandling the situation.
In Hollywood, perception often carries as much weight as truth, and insiders believe this episode has reshaped Lively’s image in ways that may be difficult to undo.
What is the Blake Lively–Justin Baldoni case about?
The dispute stems from the production of the 2024 film It Ends With Us, where Lively accused Baldoni, her co-star and director, of sexual harassment, retaliation, and fostering a hostile work environment. However, in April 2026, a US federal judge dismissed the majority of her claims, including all allegations of sexual harassment, primarily on legal grounds such as her status as an independent contractor.
Three claims, breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting retaliation, remain active and are set to go to trial.
Baldoni has denied all allegations. He had also filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, which was later dismissed.
