Steal is a contemporary, high-octane thriller about the heist of the century and the ordinary office worker, Zara (Sophie Turner), who finds herself at the heart of it. Talking about the preparation of the show, Archie Madekwe says, “My role is that of Luke, who is in immense debt and living way above his means, he has been manifesting above the means that he can afford. He’s living a flashy lifestyle, buying shoes and watches that he cannot afford.”
Sophie Turner believes that there is a part in her that relates to the character that she is playing as Zara. She explains, “There is a stage in everybody’s life when you do not know what you are supposed to be doing, where you are supposed to be going. And you feel stuck, demotivated, and underappreciated. This is a universal experience. I really enjoyed leaning into that rock-bottom. I found that quite liberating.”
The series comes from executive producers Greg Brenman and Rebecca de Souza, producer Nuala O’Leary, and directors Sam Miller and Hettie MacDonald, and is created and written by Sotiris Nikias. Amazon MGM Studios is producing alongside Drama Republic.
As Archie rightly says that being an actor is tough because it’s a hugely populated industry. But if it is something that you love, then one must do it. “It is definitely a difficult career. It’s also an overpopulated career. You also have to go through a lot of precarious times in the industry. But if you feel you cannot do anything else, and are passionate about it, nobody should deprive you of that. Love it, read everything and see everything. Just be consistent and curious. And find a way of doing it. Immerse yourself in it. A lot of people think acting is synonymous with becoming famous quickly, but that is definitely not the case.”
But, Sophie Turner talking about the Indian film industry, concluded the interview by saying, “Shah Rukh Khan is the GOAT. I love Deepika, she's amazing. I loved watching RRR.”
