Ranveer Singh’s upcoming spy-action sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge, widely referred to as Dhurandhar 2, has already started rewriting box office records ahead of its theatrical release, thanks to a massive response to its premiere advance bookings.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the highly anticipated Bollywood film has registered extraordinary ticket sales for its paid preview shows, putting it on track for one of the biggest openings in recent Hindi cinema.
Record-breaking premiere advance booking
Advance bookings for the film’s paid premiere shows scheduled for March 18 opened recently and witnessed explosive demand almost immediately. Within a short period of time, the film sold over 1.2 lakh tickets nationwide, generating more than Rs. 13 crore in advance sales from previews alone.
This remarkable performance has allowed the film to surpass the previous record held by Stree 2 for the biggest Bollywood premiere collection, establishing a new benchmark even before the film hits theatres.
A significant portion of the earnings came from the Hindi 2D version, which accounted for the majority of the early bookings across thousands of shows nationwide.
Strong response across India
The advance booking response has been particularly strong in multiplex chains and major urban centres. Reports suggest that ticket sales surged rapidly once bookings opened, with tens of thousands of tickets sold within hours.
Data from ticketing platforms indicates that the film has already crossed 1.2 lakh tickets sold within the first day of booking, signalling strong audience anticipation for the sequel.
The film is also being released as a pan-India project, with versions in multiple languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, further expanding its potential audience base.
US markets also show strong momentum
The film’s momentum is not limited to India. Overseas markets, especially North America, have also recorded impressive advance booking figures.
Reports indicate that premiere pre-sales in the United States have already crossed hundreds of thousands of dollars, with strong demand across multiple theatre locations and shows.
According to verified data from Venky Box Office, the USA premiere advance sales have already surpassed the $537,660 mark (close to Rs. 5 crore) across 551 locations and 1,002 shows. With 33,348 tickets already sold and 11 days still remaining until the premiere, the momentum is only expected to grow. Including pre-sales, the opening day advance total has climbed to $765,000 (Rs 7 crore), while the total advance sales for the first weekend have already hit a staggering $1.45 million (Rs. 13.38 crore).
Release date and expectations
Dhurandhar: The Revenge is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, with paid preview shows on March 18.
The sequel follows the massive success of the original Dhurandhar and stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role alongside an ensemble cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun.
With record-breaking advance sales and strong buzz following the trailer release, trade analysts expect the film to deliver a historic opening weekend at the box office
