What is the story about?
As the West Asia conflict enters its second month, large-scale strikes and retaliatory attacks continue across the region.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday warned
Gulf nations against supporting the United States and Israel in military action against Tehran, urging them not to allow their territories to be used as launchpads for attacks if they wish to preserve peace and stability.
Taking to X, President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran does not seek to initiate attacks across the region, but warned it would respond forcefully if its infrastructure or economic centres are targeted by the United States or Israel .
“We have said many times that Iran doesn't carry out preemptive attacks, but we will retaliate strongly if our infrastructure or economic centres are targeted,” he said.
Addressing countries in the region, he added, “If you want development and security, don't let our enemies run war from your lands.”
Three journalists and nine paramedics were killed in southern Lebanon on Saturday.
The World Health Organization said that eight other paramedics were killed on Saturday and seven more were wounded in five separate attacks on healthcare in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military acknowledged the strike that killed the journalists, stating that Ali Shuaib was linked to a Hezbollah intelligence unit and had allegedly been tracking Israeli troop movements in southern Lebanon. It also accused him of spreading Hezbollah propaganda.
Meanwhile, Iranian state media, including Fars News Agency, reported that Tehran had targeted two locations in Dubai described as US military “hideouts” amid the escalating regional conflict.
A spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters claimed American personnel had relocated to these sites following earlier Iranian strikes on US bases in the region, presenting them as part of Iran’s broader retaliatory actions.
The spokesperson claimed that more than 500 US Army personnel were present at the sites, with around 400 in one location and 100 in the other. According to the statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps identified the locations and carried out precise missile and drone strikes, inflicting heavy casualties.
Whereas, the United States is set to deploy the 82nd Airborne to West Asia in the backdrop of the Iran war.
Trump has been weighing whether to use ground forces to seize Iran's strategic oil hub of Kharg Island, an operation analysts say could be achieved quickly, but leave US troops in great peril and prolong rather than shorten the war.
