What is the story about?
Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar were all set to collaborate for Don 3, an announcement that happened three years back. Post the success of Dhurandhar, things changed and the actor parted ways with the makers. There have been claims of Rs 40 crore being demanded for damages and intervention by Aamir Khan. No confirmation about them has been made yet. So what's next in this fiasco?
The Producers Guild Of India has advised both the parties to take the legal route if no concrete result comes out of the incessant meetings.
What has happened between the two parties?
A report by Bollywood Hungama says, “Ranveer blamed Excel Entertainment for unprofessionalism and not being serious about taking Don 3 on floors. He stated that Farhan Akhtar never had a bound script in place and that, as an actor, he prefers to work only with fully developed material.”
It adds, “Ranveer also pointed out that Farhan was never open to feedback on the script and had issues incorporating certain subplots. He further alleged that Excel was exploring the possibility of getting Hrithik Roshan on board and only re-approached him after the success of Dhurandhar, to capitalise on his momentum.”
The Don 3 fiasco intensifies
A source on anonymity told Variety India, “Ranveer claims he left the project because he wasn’t happy with the script. He kept asking for changes to be made and didn’t like what the final draft read. Excel, on the other hand, claims that they went ahead with pre-production only after Singh gave his go ahead.”
The production banner, sources say, believes the actor should compensate the company for the damages incurred, which are reportedly as staggering as Rs 40 crore. An official statement from both the parties is awaited as the issue continues to intensify. The Producers Guild of India (PGI) is now likely to act as the mediator.
