Earlier in July, Starlink, which is legally a division of SpaceX, received regulatory approval in India from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (In-space). But Starlink did not any announcement about its offerings at the time of receiving the approval.
Now Starlink's plan has been reported and details about its likely rollout have emerged.
Starlink will provide satellite internet at Rs 8,600 per month for a residential set up with a one-time hardware cost of Rs 34,000, according to CNBC-TV 18.
The service will include unlimited data, 99.9 per cent uptime, and a 30-day trial.

Separately, unconfirmed reports have said Starlink would offer internet speed in the range of 25-220 megabytes per second (MBPS).
Starlink works through a plug-and-play set up where an antenna-like device catches internet beamed down from satellites in the space.
Starlink provides internet through more than 8,000 satellites orbiting the Earth at about 550 kilometres above the surface in the low earth orbit (LEO). This is considerably lower than the traditional geostationary satellites that orbit at around 36,000 km.
Even though Starlink has received the regulatory approval in India, it is completing a few critical steps, such as setting up points of presence, securing satellite communication (Satcom) gateway approvals, acquiring licences for network equipment, and obtaining spectrum, according to CNN-News 18.
Once these requirements are done, Starlink could start providing internet services as early as the next financial quarter (January-March 2026), the report said.
However, neither Musk nor Starlink have formally published any timeline yet. On its website, Starlink continues to say "pending regulatory approval" about India.
As of December 2025, Starlink is operational in more than 100 countries, including in Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka in India's neighbourhood.
