Stock Market Highlights Today , August 8, 2025: Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty declined on Friday amid non-stop foreign fund outflows and tariff-related
jitters. The initial 25 per cent tariffs announced by the US on Indian imports came into effect Thursday.
Stock Market Closing Today On August 8
On Friday, August 8, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex lost 765.47 points or 0.95 per cent to close at 79857.79. The NSE Nifty went down by 232.85 points or 0.95 per cent to close at 24363.30.

The Nifty Bank index, which tracks the movement top 12 listed banks of the country, closed 516.25 points or 0.93 per cent down at 55,004.90.
From the broader market, Nifty Midcap 100 index closed 1.64 per cent lower, while Nifty Smallcap 100 index settled 1.49 per cent down.
Among NIFTY sectoral indices, all 17 indices settled in red.
Among the, Nifty Realty lost 2.11 per cent.
Nifty Metal declined 1.76 per cent, while Pharma went down by 1.30 per cent.
Nifty Private Bank index fell 1.25 per cent.
IT index too closed in red at 0.95 per cent lower.
Auto closed 1.40 per cent lower. FMCG closed in red with a fall of 0.72 per cent.
Oil & Gas index went down by 0.07 per cent.
Sensex Gainers and Losers Today
From Sensex pack, 25 constituents settled in red. NTPC, Titan, Trent, ITC and Bajaj Finserv were gainers on Sensex. Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Kotak Mahindra Bank, M&M, Axis Bank and RIL were among laggards.
Nifty 50: Nifty Gainers And Losers Today
From Nifty 50, 41 shares moved downwards and settled in red. NTPC, Titan, Dr Reddy's, HDFC Life, Bajaj Finserv, ITC and Trent were top gainers. IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, Adani Enterprises, Shriram Finance, Tata Motors and M&M were among top laggards.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 4,997.19 crore on Thursday, according to exchange data. Domestic Institutional Investors (DII), however, bought stocks worth Rs 10,864.04 crore in the previous trade.
On Thursday, the Sensex edged higher by 79.27 points or 0.10 per cent to settle at 80,623.26. The Nifty went up by 21.95 points or 0.09 per cent to 24,596.15.
