Chemical Production Push
The government is launching a scheme designed to aid states in the establishment of three dedicated chemical arks. This strategic move aims to boost domestic
chemical production and reduce the nation's reliance on imports, enhancing self-sufficiency. This initiative will use a challenge route approach based on a cluster-based plug-and-play model, promoting efficiency and streamlined development. The core objective is to create environments conducive to chemical manufacturing, ensuring a steady supply chain within India. This will also lower production costs, making India's chemical industry more competitive on the global stage, and promote innovation and research in the chemical sector.
Semiconductor Mission Investment
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a considerable investment of ₹40,000 crore for the semiconductor mission. This substantial financial allocation aims to accelerate the growth of the semiconductor industry within the country. The allocated funds are intended to support the development of semiconductor manufacturing facilities, research and development initiatives, and the establishment of a robust ecosystem for chip design and production. This investment aligns with the government's broader strategy to position India as a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain, ensuring technological advancement and economic growth by strengthening supply chains and boosting manufacturing capabilities.
Rare Earth Corridors Planned
The government plans to establish rare earth corridors across four states: Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. These corridors are designed to facilitate mining, processing, research, and manufacturing activities related to rare earth minerals. A scheme for rare earth permanent magnets was launched in November 2025 as part of this initiative. This is intended to promote domestic expertise and capacity in this crucial area. The establishment of these corridors is a critical step towards securing a reliable supply of rare earth materials, which are essential for various advanced technologies and industries. This move reflects the government's commitment to self-reliance and innovation in the realm of critical minerals, boosting job creation and generating economic activity in these states.
