New Route Launch
The Ministry of Railways is introducing a brand new Vande Bharat Express service connecting Udaipur City to Ahmedabad's Asarwa station. This initiative,
managed by the North Western Railway (NWR) zone, is poised to significantly improve travel infrastructure and stimulate economic activity across the region. The commencement of regular commercial operations for train number 26963/26964, the Udaipur City-Ahmedabad (Asarwa)-Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express, is scheduled for February 18, 2026. This launch follows the discontinuation of two previous Vande Bharat services: the Udaipur City-Jaipur route (train number 20979/80), which ceased operations on February 15, and the Udaipur City-Agra Cantt route (train number 20981/82), ending on February 16. This strategic rescheduling aims to optimize the Vande Bharat network and provide enhanced connectivity.
Speed and Schedule
This new semi-high-speed train is set to become the fastest link between Udaipur City and Ahmedabad (Asarwa), covering the substantial distance of 296 kilometers in a remarkably short travel time of just 4 hours and 15 minutes. The Udaipur City-Ahmedabad (Asarwa)-Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, providing consistent service for commuters and travelers. Notably, the train will observe a weekly break on Tuesdays, allowing for essential maintenance and operational planning. This frequent schedule is designed to cater to the growing demand for efficient intercity travel, making it a convenient option for daily commuters as well as long-distance travelers.
Stops and Coaches
During its swift journey between Udaipur and Asarwa, the Vande Bharat Express, identified by train numbers 26963 and 26964, will make brief but strategic stops at three key stations. These intermediate halts are planned at Zawar, Dungarpur, and Himmat Nagar, ensuring accessibility for passengers in these areas. The train itself is configured to provide a comfortable and modern travel experience, featuring a composition of 7 coaches of the AC chair car class. Additionally, it includes one executive AC chair car coach, offering enhanced amenities and space for passengers seeking premium comfort. This arrangement balances capacity with passenger comfort, making the journey enjoyable.
