A Common Gap
The simple act of riding a bicycle, often a rite of passage during childhood, isn't a skill everyone acquires. In India, a considerable number of adults
find themselves unable to ride a bicycle. Li, along with his friend, recognized this gap, observing a prevalence of individuals actively seeking guidance in learning to ride. This sparked an entrepreneurial venture, addressing a practical need that was often overlooked. The demand stemmed not only from a desire to master a basic skill but also from the lack of opportunities during their earlier years, resulting in a gap in their skill set that they are now eager to bridge.
The Bicycle Package
Li capitalized on this unmet need by creating a unique 'bicycle package'. This package wasn't just about showing people how to balance and pedal; it was a success-guaranteed program designed to ensure that participants mastered the skill of riding. To cater to this demand, the package came with a price tag of over Rs 10,000. This fee reflects the specialized nature of the training, the success-oriented approach, and the personal attention given to each participant. The price also underscores the value that individuals place on acquiring this skill, highlighting their willingness to invest in something they consider essential or enjoyable.
Cross-generational Teaching
The initiative of teaching adults highlights a fascinating cross-generational dynamic. Rather than just being a matter of teaching a practical skill, it involved bridging a gap in life experiences. The training programs became opportunities for participants to revisit a stage of life they might have missed or struggled with. It encouraged a feeling of achievement. Moreover, the fact that an instructor was teaching adults demonstrated the widespread need and the unconventional paths that entrepreneurs are taking to offer solutions that cater to the unique and diverse demands of society.
