Temperature Drops Sharply
The weather took a turn for the cooler as rainfall drenched Delhi-NCR. On Monday, the minimum temperature was 20.6 degrees Celsius, which was 2 degrees below
the typical average. The drop was particularly noticeable in Gurugram, which saw its maximum temperature fall to 28 degrees Celsius, nearly 6 degrees cooler than the previous day. The shift in weather patterns is attributed to the rain and the expected arrival of northwesterly winds, which the IMD forecasts could push temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius from Wednesday onward.
Alerts and Forecasts
The IMD issued weather alerts in response to the rain. Delhi and Ghaziabad were placed under an orange alert until 4:20 am on Tuesday. Gurugram was under a yellow alert. The IMD's nowcast indicated that rain was likely to persist on Tuesday, though with a slight reduction in intensity. This wet spell, which began on Monday, brought a significant change to the region's climate. This change provided respite from the usual heat and influenced the day's activities for many residents.
