Stand-up comedian Rahul Dua and his wife, Nidhi Tyagi, have embarked on a new health regimen, committing to a 24-hour water fast twice every month, beginning
in 2026. Nidhi shared on Instagram that they have successfully completed this fast only twice so far, highlighting the difficulty. She humorously confessed that even the sight of baby food is tempting during these periods, and admitted to struggling to forego her morning chai. The motivation behind this practice, as explained by Nidhi, is to help the body detoxify from what they describe as 'painfully self-sabotaging eating habits.' She believes that fasting provides a much-needed rest for the digestive system and can initiate a process known as autophagy. During these fasting days, participants are permitted to consume only plain water, black coffee, green tea, black tea, or herbal teas, with electrolytes being an option if necessary.
