Dreadful Diner's Discovery
A weekend outing at Elante Mall's food court in Chandigarh turned into a nightmarish experience for a family when they found an unwelcome guest in their
food. While dining at Sizzlers cafe on Saturday, a live caterpillar was allegedly discovered in a Chinese veg supreme sizzler ordered for their children. The family was reportedly enjoying their meal when one of the children went to get a drink, and the customer's wife noticed the insect after taking a few bites. This discovery immediately halted their meal and led to significant distress, particularly as the food was intended for a young child.
Customer's Social Media Outcry
Following the unsettling find, the customer took immediate action by documenting the incident through videos, which were subsequently posted on social media platforms. This move aimed to bring attention to the issue and express their deep dissatisfaction. The customer stated that despite being regular patrons of the establishment, they were served what appeared to be worm-infested food, a grave concern when children are involved. They lodged a formal complaint with the Chandigarh health department, demanding a thorough investigation into the cafe's food preparation and hygiene practices. The family insisted that their loyalty as customers should not compromise their right to safe and clean food.
Cafe's Response and Defense
In response to the allegations, an official from the cafe, speaking to the media, maintained that their kitchen operates under strict cleanliness standards. They suggested that the insect might have been present in the cabbage, a common ingredient in their sizzlers, and asserted that the cabbage is always boiled before use. The official expressed uncertainty about how the caterpillar ended up in the dish, even going as far as to state they couldn't confirm it was a human error. While acknowledging that the staff apologized to the customers and that they are regular patrons, the official noted that the family opted to share their experience online rather than resolve it through internal channels.
