Starting May 1, a statewide inspection campaign will be conducted to ensure adherence to the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Any food establishments, manufacturers, or suppliers found violating these regulations concerning cheese analogues will face severe legal action. The FDA is emphasizing that proper labeling and accurate representation of food products are paramount to consumer safety and legal compliance within the state.
Verification for Businesses
Food service providers, including hotels and restaurants, are being urged by the FDA to exercise due diligence when procuring dairy products. It is imperative that establishments verify the authenticity of products purchased from manufacturers of paneer and cheese analogues. This verification process should include a thorough examination of product labeling to confirm that the items are indeed what they claim to be. Only after confirming the legitimacy and proper classification of these products should they be incorporated into inventory and used in food preparation, thereby upholding safety standards and consumer trust.
Consumer Vigilance
Consumers are empowered to play an active role in ensuring their food safety by practicing informed purchasing decisions. When buying cheese or other dairy products, it is recommended to meticulously read the packaging for any mention of the term "analogue." Additionally, consumers should confirm that dairy items are derived from pure milk and be wary of products priced unusually low, as these might indicate the use of substitutes.
