New Summer Route
To cater to the increased travel demand during the summer holidays, Indian Railways has launched a crucial special train service. This initiative directly
links Hubballi, a significant railway hub in Karnataka, with Rameswaram, a highly sought-after pilgrimage destination in Tamil Nadu. The introduction of this weekly service is specifically designed to accommodate the surge in passengers, particularly families, devout individuals, and those undertaking long-distance journeys from various districts within Karnataka. By providing a direct and convenient travel option, the railway aims to significantly ease the burden on existing services and reduce waiting times for confirmed tickets during the peak vacation period of April and May.
Journey Details & Schedule
The newly inaugurated special train operates on a weekly basis, facilitating travel in both directions between Hubballi and Rameswaram. The service comprises a total of 9 trips spread across April and May. For those heading from Hubballi to Rameswaram, the train (No. 07355) departs at 6:50 AM every Sunday, arriving at Rameswaram at 5:20 AM the following day, marking an overnight journey. Conversely, the train from Rameswaram to Hubballi (No. 07356) departs at 8:00 PM on Mondays, reaching Hubballi at 7:40 PM on the subsequent day. This scheduling is optimized to allow passengers ample time for onward travel arrangements upon arrival, making the extensive journey more manageable and efficient.
Extensive Station Network
Ensuring broad accessibility, this special train makes stops at a multitude of key stations across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Passengers embarking from or disembarking at locations such as Haveri, Ranebennur, Harihar, Davanagere, Chikkajajur, Birur, Arsikere, Tiptur, and Tumakuru will find this service highly beneficial. Further south, it connects to Banaswadi, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Karaikudi, Sivaganga, Manamadurai, and Ramanathapuram, before finally reaching Rameswaram. This comprehensive network of halts significantly enhances connectivity for travellers originating from central, southern, and even parts of northern Karnataka, simplifying their pilgrimage or holiday plans.
