Age Limit Extended
In a significant move following its recent election victory, the newly formed West Bengal government, led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, has prioritized
fulfilling key electoral pledges. At its very first cabinet meeting, a crucial decision was made to grant a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit for individuals applying for government school jobs. This initiative directly addresses a promise made during the election campaign, particularly by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aiming to provide more opportunities for aspirants who might have previously been disqualified due to age restrictions. The cabinet's swift action signals a clear intent to implement its agenda and positively impact a broad segment of the state's youth seeking employment in the education sector.
Health Scheme Launched
Beyond educational job opportunities, the West Bengal cabinet's inaugural meeting also saw the approval of the nationwide Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. This vital program, which had not been implemented under the previous administration, will now be rolled out across the state for eligible residents. The decision underscores the government's commitment to improving healthcare access and ensuring that citizens can benefit from central government initiatives. By bringing Ayushman Bharat to West Bengal, the administration aims to provide a robust safety net for families, safeguarding them against the financial burden of medical emergencies and promoting overall public health and well-being throughout the state.
Governance Model Unveiled
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has expressed a strong commitment to efficient and people-centric governance, emphasizing the "double-engine" administration model. This approach, mirroring successful frameworks in other National Democratic Alliance-ruled states, signifies a focus on synchronized efforts between the state and central governments to accelerate development and service delivery. Adhikari, along with key cabinet members such as Agnimitra Paul, Khudiram Tudu, Ashok Kirtania, and Nisith Pramanik, convened the meeting at Nabanna. The collective presence of these leaders highlights the unified front of the new government as it embarks on its mandate to serve the people of West Bengal with dedication and a clear vision for progress and inclusive growth.
