Milestone Completion Achieved
Western Railway achieved a significant infrastructure milestone by commissioning the 6th line connecting Kandivali and Borivali. This new line is a vital
component of the broader Mumbai Central–Borivali project and signifies the culmination of Phase-I. The progress signifies a crucial improvement in the city's railway network, facilitating smoother operations and increased capacity for commuters. The earlier stretches—Khar–Goregaon (8.8 km) and Goregaon–Kandivali (4.54 km)—were successfully commissioned in November 2023 and October 2024, respectively. The completion of this phase is a clear indication of the railway's commitment to enhancing Mumbai's transportation infrastructure and providing better services to the public. With this project fully operational, commuters can anticipate improved railway services across this important route.
Phase-I Corridor Overview
The completion of Phase-I signifies that the entire corridor from Bandra Terminus (BDTS) to Borivali is now fully functional. This project's success is attributed to the careful and efficient planning of railway authorities, leading to the completion of crucial segments. The initial stretches, including Khar–Goregaon (8.8 km) which was completed in November 2023, and Goregaon–Kandivali (4.54 km) which was completed in October 2024, played a vital role in the overall project.
