The Stem Trick
A surprisingly simple yet highly effective technique to extend the life of your chillies involves an immediate post-purchase action: removing the stems. Chillies are most susceptible to rot starting from their crown, where the stem attaches. By carefully detaching the stems as soon as you get them home, you significantly disrupt the primary pathway for spoilage. Smart Storage Solutions
Once prepared, the next step is choosing the right storage environment. For optimal freshness, place your chillies in an airtight container or a sealed plastic bag. This barrier helps regulate humidity and prevents them from drying out too quickly or absorbing unwanted odours. Another highly effective method involves wrapping each chilli individually in tissue paper.
