Massive Dairy Seizure
In a significant crackdown on food adulteration, authorities in Hyderabad have confiscated an astonishing 3,892 kilograms of dairy products, including
paneer, khoa, white cream, ghee, and kalakhand. The estimated value of these seized goods amounts to a substantial Rs 11.11 lakh. This operation, carried out by the Hyderabad police commissioner’s task force in collaboration with the Food Safety Office (FSO), targeted establishments in Ganj Bazar that were allegedly involved in producing and distributing these compromised dairy items. The prompt action by law enforcement highlights a growing concern over the integrity of food supply chains and the critical importance of upholding stringent food safety standards to protect public health.
Unhygienic Practices Exposed
The inspection revealed deeply concerning practices at the facilities responsible for these dairy products. Investigations showed that the paneer and other milk-derived items were stored in open plastic containers, leaving them susceptible to contamination from dust, flies, and other environmental hazards. This alarming exposure rendered the products unfit for human consumption. Furthermore, the packaging lacked essential information such as brand names, manufacturing dates, expiry dates, and pest control records, pointing to a blatant disregard for established food safety regulations and consumer rights. These violations underscore the need for vigilant oversight and strict enforcement of food quality mandates.
Six Arrested in Operation
As a direct consequence of the raid, six individuals have been taken into custody. The arrested parties have been identified as Jaipal Singh Rajpurohit, Kolariya Vaibhav, Naresh Kolariya, Prem Anil Vyas, Ram Kishore Kolariya, and Laxmi Narayana Kolariaya. These individuals are alleged to have been involved in procuring and distributing these adulterated dairy products, misrepresenting them as quality items to unsuspecting customers. The illicit operation was reportedly selling these substandard products in bulk to hotels and catering services at a price of approximately Rs 280 per kilogram. The accused, along with the seized materials, were subsequently transferred to the Mahankali Police Station for further legal proceedings and investigation into the full extent of their involvement.
