Metro's Foundation Laid
On September 5, 2025, CM Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar marked the beginning of Gurugram Metro Phase 1. The ceremony, held at Gurugram University,
highlighted the project's importance in transforming the city's transport infrastructure. It's a significant step forward, echoing the vision of a rapidly developing Gurugram.
Phase 1 Details Unveiled
The initial phase will see the construction of a 15.22 km metro rail viaduct, complete with 15 stations. Moreover, it includes a 1.85 km spur to the Dwarka Expressway and a ramp leading to the proposed depot in Sector 33. This comprehensive plan aims to provide efficient and wide-ranging connectivity across the city.
Khattar's Metro Vision
Recalling the Delhi Metro's launch in 2002, Khattar highlighted the growth of metro networks nationwide. The Gurugram project, costing about ₹5,600 and stretching 28.5 km, is expected to accelerate the development of Gurugram, Manesar, and Faridabad. The vision emphasizes progress and urban expansion.
Bus Initiative Announced
Adding to the transport improvements, the government plans to provide 10,000 buses at concessional rates. Haryana will receive 450 buses, with 100 specifically allocated for Gurugram. This initiative aims to complement the metro system and enhance public transport options for residents.
Station Locations Listed
The metro stations planned for Phase 1 include Millennium City Centre (with an interchange), Sector 45, Cyber Park (Sector 46), Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 33, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar phase six, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai, Sector 9, and Sector 101. This comprehensive network will ensure easy access across key areas.
