with dangerous substances. The incident occurred on April 10 when Mr. Donda found a packet of sweets affixed to his home's entryway. Believing it to be a customary religious or celebratory offering, he partook in a piece. Almost immediately after consumption, he began to feel unwell, experiencing dizziness that rapidly escalated into unconsciousness. He was swiftly transported to a local medical facility, where medical intervention helped stabilize his condition. This harrowing experience highlights the potential dangers of accepting food items without certainty of their origin or contents, especially when presented in an unusual manner.
Discovery of Poison
The gravity of the situation became apparent when Mr. Donda's daughter-in-law, Kiran Donda, decided to taste a small portion of the same sweets. She immediately detected a peculiar, unpleasant bitter taste, which raised her suspicions. Upon closer inspection and breaking apart the sweet confection, she discovered small, suspicious tablets concealed within its layers. These tablets were later identified through preliminary examinations as highly potent pesticides, commonly employed for the preservation of grains. This discovery transformed the event from a simple case of food poisoning into a suspected act of deliberate harm, prompting immediate action from the family and law enforcement.
Police Investigation Underway
Following the disturbing findings, the Surat Police promptly intervened.
