Unprecedented Visitor Surge
Asia's largest Tulip Garden, located in the picturesque Kashmir Valley, has witnessed an extraordinary influx of visitors since its grand opening on March
16, 2026. Within a mere fortnight, the garden welcomed an astonishing 1.4 lakh individuals, far exceeding expectations and establishing a new benchmark for springtime attractions. This remarkable attendance transformed the valley into a vibrant floral spectacle, drawing a consistent stream of admirers daily. The decision to open the garden two weeks earlier than its customary April commencement proved instrumental in capitalizing on the burgeoning interest, significantly boosting tourist numbers and offering visitors an extended opportunity to marvel at the meticulously cultivated blooms against the stunning backdrop of the Zabarwan Range and the iconic Dal Lake.
A Million Blooms
The sprawling garden boasts an impressive collection of approximately 1.8 million tulips, meticulously arranged across 70 to 75 distinct varieties. This vibrant display is the result of extensive preparation, with hundreds of dedicated gardeners working diligently for nearly six months to ensure the garden's readiness and aesthetic perfection. The sheer scale and diversity of the floral arrangements have earned the garden accolades, including recognition from the World Book of Records (London) for being Asia's largest tulip garden. The carefully curated selection includes rare varieties sourced from the Netherlands, alongside enchanting hyacinths and cheerful daffodils, creating a breathtaking visual tapestry that draws photographers and nature enthusiasts alike, particularly during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset.
Tourism Revival Engine
The overwhelming success of the Tulip Garden has served as a significant catalyst for the revival of tourism in the region. Garden in-charge Imran Ahmad highlighted the objective of making the spring season a major draw to stimulate the tourism sector, a goal that has been substantially achieved. Initially, during Ramadan, the garden saw a steady footfall of 4,000 to 5,000 domestic tourists per day. Following the Eid celebrations, this number dramatically increased, reaching between 10,000 and 12,000 visitors daily. This surge includes a substantial proportion of local visitors, numbering 6,000 to 7,000, alongside 4,000 to 5,000 tourists. Encouragingly, international visitors have also begun to arrive, signaling a positive trend that is expected to continue into April, with even higher attendance anticipated.
Visitor Experiences
Visitors have consistently described their experience at the Tulip Garden as nothing short of extraordinary, often likening the terraced landscapes and vibrant blooms to the famed flower gardens of Europe. Many have lauded the garden as a "visual masterpiece" and a slice of "heaven on earth." Tourists like Avinash Mishra from Varanasi expressed their pleasant surprise, stating the beauty surpassed all expectations. Harshita and her companions, who visited on March 18, were delighted to find the flowers still in full, vibrant bloom, emphasizing the lasting appeal of the garden's display. The garden's appeal extends beyond its visual splendor, offering a serene and captivating environment that leaves a lasting impression on all who wander through its colorful pathways.
