Widespread Illness Strikes Villagers

after indulging in a popular local snack, 'Cuttack Dahibara', purchased from a street vendor. The incident, which occurred on a Friday morning between approximately 8:30 am and 9:30 am, quickly led to a significant number of people seeking medical attention. Initial treatment was administered at local facilities, but due to the escalating number of affected individuals, a large contingent of 52 patients, including both children and adults, were subsequently transferred via ambulance to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Jajpur for more comprehensive care. Six other individuals continued to receive medical attention within their village, highlighting the widespread nature of the health crisis.

The Jajpur Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Dr. Bijoy Kumar Mishra, confirmed that all patients affected by the suspected food poisoning are currently in stable condition. He noted that a few individuals experienced mild fever, a common symptom expected to subside with treatment. Importantly, Dr. Mishra clarified that there have been no reported fatalities stemming from this outbreak, which provided some relief amidst the concerning health scare.
