To cater to the increased demand during the vibrant Holi and Ugadi festivals, South Western Railway (SWR) has rolled out special express train services.
These trains are specifically designed to facilitate travel for those journeying to visit loved ones or explore during the festive long weekends. The primary route connects SSS Hubballi in Karnataka to Muzaffarpur in Bihar, offering a convenient travel solution for a significant number of passengers looking to travel during March and April 2026. This initiative by SWR underscores their commitment to providing comfortable and accessible transportation during periods of high travel volume, ensuring a stress-free experience for everyone heading home or on holiday.
Train Composition & Capacity
The special express trains are meticulously planned to accommodate a large number of passengers, featuring a substantial 23-coach composition. This extensive arrangement includes a variety of coach types to suit different passenger needs and preferences. Travelers can expect availability in AC Two-Tier, AC Three-Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches. This diverse mix ensures that both budget-conscious travelers and those seeking more comfort can find suitable options for their journey. As stated by Dr. Manjunath Kanamadi, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railway, the 23-coach setup is specifically implemented to manage the anticipated rush for the Holi festival, promising a more pleasant travel experience for all passengers, whether they are tourists or returning home for the festivities.
Service Schedule Details
The special express train service operates with five trips in each direction, providing ample opportunities for travel. The train numbered 07315 departs from Hubballi every Wednesday, commencing its journey at 05:20 PM. This service is scheduled to run from March 4th to April 1st, 2026. The return service, designated as train number 07316, originates from Muzaffarpur and leaves every Saturday at 01:15 PM. This route operates from March 7th to April 4th, 2026. Both the outbound and inbound journeys are planned as three-day trips, ensuring a consistent and reliable link between these two important regions, facilitating travel plans across states during the festive period.
Key Intermediate Stops
To enhance accessibility and convenience for passengers across various states, the special express trains will make stops at several key railway junctions. Within Karnataka, passengers can board or alight at Dharwad, Belagavi, and Ghataprabha. Moving into Maharashtra, the train will halt at Miraj, Pune, Daund, and Manmad. For travelers in Central and North India, significant stops include Itarsi, Jabalpur, Prayagraj Chheoki, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction. Finally, in Bihar, the train will stop at Buxar, Danapur, Patliputra, and Hajipur. These strategic stoppages ensure that a wider population can benefit from these special services, particularly during the long weekend holidays that coincide with the festive celebrations.
