Birthday Stunt Gone Wrong
To mark his 33rd birthday, an automobile dealer in Mumbai allegedly orchestrated a perilous stunt by igniting a stretch of public road in the Goregaon
area. The man, identified as Fahad Sheikh, is accused of pouring petrol onto the tarmac and setting it ablaze in the formation of the number '33,' presumably to commemorate his age. This audacious act was reportedly carried out on April 25th outside a residential society. The intention behind this dangerous display was to capture footage for a unique social media reel, aiming for viral recognition. However, the consequences were far from celebratory, leading to significant public concern and immediate police intervention. The incident highlights a disturbing trend of individuals engaging in hazardous activities solely for online attention, disregarding the potential harm to themselves and others. The visual of a burning road for a birthday celebration underscores a concerning disregard for public safety and legal boundaries.
Public Outcry and Arrest
The perilous stunt did not go unnoticed for long, quickly drawing the attention of journalists and concerned citizens. On the evening of April 25th, images and reports of the road being set on fire were shared on X, with the Mumbai police being tagged. This digital alert prompted a swift response from the Goregaon police, who arrived at the scene on Ram Mandir Road in Goregaon West shortly thereafter. Authorities confirmed that pouring an inflammable liquid onto a public road and setting it alight posed a grave risk to life and the safety of the general public. Consequently, an FIR was registered against Fahad Sheikh under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The viral nature of the video and photos has amplified public anger, with many netizens calling for stringent penalties for such acts of 'public nuisance.' Comments expressed disbelief at the driver's 'stupidity' and the 'Sadak mere baap ki hai' (road belongs to my father) attitude, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement to curb such growing public disturbances.
