A Journey Home
Manushi Chhillar's path to her current Mumbai residence is a narrative of growth and belonging. Initially hailing from Delhi, her arrival in Mumbai was
for the Miss India pageant, leading to a period of residence in the competition's penthouse. However, as fellow contestants departed, a profound sense of solitude began to set in. This feeling of loneliness spurred a significant life change: Manushi invited her parents to relocate to Mumbai, a decision that fundamentally reshaped her living situation. The family subsequently navigated moves between Bandra and Andheri before discovering their present five-and-a-half BHK apartment on the 36th floor, a choice influenced by the building's community, convenient location, and, most importantly, its captivating sea view.
Space, Serenity, Sea
Perched on the 36th floor, Manushi Chhillar's expansive five-and-a-half BHK apartment is defined by its sweeping sea views, a feature she cherishes. The mesmerising sight of Mumbai at night, with its city lights twinkling below, provides a unique ambiance. The apartment thoughtfully accommodates her parents and brother, with a dedicated guest room always prepared for visiting family. Her father, a medical professional, has a quiet study for his continued learning. Manushi herself enjoys a personal space that includes a dedicated room, a study for script preparation, a vanity area, and a small studio for her painting endeavors. The living area is notably airy and bright, benefiting from ample natural light filtering through large windows that frame the stunning ocean panorama. At the time of its unveiling, the apartment was still in the process of being furnished, lending it an intimate, lived-in quality.
Minimalist Design Principles
Manushi Chhillar champions a clear aesthetic for her living space, prioritizing cleanliness, simplicity, and practicality. She finds that a minimalist approach significantly eases maintenance, especially in a city like Mumbai where dust accumulation is common. A particularly endearing element within the home is the ongoing family discussion regarding wall decor, specifically whether her own artwork should be displayed or if they should opt for external pieces. Her personal study stands out as a space she has fully claimed, serving as her favourite sanctuary for reading and script work. This private nook within a shared family home offers a distinct sense of peace and personal retreat, underscoring the importance of individual space within a collective dwelling.
A Foundation of Belonging
What distinguishes Manushi Chhillar's home from typical celebrity tours is its genuine lack of artifice. The apartment eschews meticulously arranged displays or designer furnishings selected solely for appearances, instead presenting an authentic depiction of a family creating a shared life. Mumbai has been instrumental in shaping Manushi's journey, marking the city as a pivotal location where her professional and personal life truly began. She acknowledges the city's vibrant energy and its remarkable capacity to foster a sense of inclusion and belonging among its residents. This apartment, therefore, is more than just a residence; it’s a testament to the deep connection she feels with Mumbai and the importance of family in grounding her amidst the city's dynamism.
