The train will make stops at Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Trichy, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari.
New Train Destinations
The Tambaram-Santragachi train, recently launched in West Bengal by PM Narendra Modi, is set to begin operations on Friday, providing a direct route. The second new train will journey to Thiruvananthapuram. This service will also be launched by the Prime Minister. This train will service Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Trichy, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari. The aim is to significantly improve connectivity and provide easier access to these regions for travelers. The trains are expected to enhance connectivity for both business and leisure travelers.
Route Selection Details
The selection of the Tambaram-Thiruvananthapuram route involved strategic considerations. This route was chosen over the Chennai Central-Erode-Salem route. It offered better patronage and available space at Tambaram Railway Station compared to the constraints at Egmore or Chennai Central. A railway official noted this. This decision reflects the efforts to optimize efficiency and convenience for passengers. The aim is to offer more convenient transit options for a wider audience.
Impact on Commuters
The new train routes are expected to provide significant benefits to a broad range of travelers. M Nanda Govind, former president of Chennai Malayalee Club, welcomed the new routes. He believes they will certainly benefit people who travel for work, studies and business. This expansion of services aims to accommodate a diverse group of commuters, promoting smoother transit experiences and greater accessibility. It represents a forward-thinking move to meet the evolving needs of the travelling public, streamlining commutes and expanding opportunities for both business and leisure activities.
