Demolition Amidst Allegations
In the Paratwada city of Amravati district, Maharashtra, a significant operation took place involving a JCB demolishing unauthorized constructions at the residence
of Mohammad Ayaz, also known as Tanveer. The 19-year-old faces severe accusations, including the sexual assault of approximately 180 minors and the creation of around 350 explicit videos. The demolition targeted an external iron staircase used to access the first floor of his one-story home. This action was carried out by the Achalpur Municipal Council, following prior issuance of a notice regarding encroachments to Ayaz's family. A substantial police presence was maintained around the property during the demolition, overseen by local BJP MLA Pravin Tayade.
Modus Operandi Uncovered
The arrest of Mohammad Ayaz, aged 19, on Saturday, April 11th, came after allegations of him luring girls into a 'love trap.' Investigations revealed a systematic approach where victims were ensnared through platforms like WhatsApp and Snapchat groups. Once victims were lured, they were reportedly taken to cities like Mumbai and Pune, where the explicit videos were filmed. These videos were allegedly used for blackmail, with some victims allegedly forced into prostitution. The case gained significant traction after images and videos featuring Ayaz circulated on social media, prompting police action. A memorandum submitted by Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde to the Superintendent of Police (Rural), Vishal Anand, further detailed the targeting of minors through online groups.
Political Connections Denied
Mohammad Ayaz, the accused, had prior associations with the AIMIM party, having reportedly served as an office-bearer. Social media posts from Ayaz depicted him receiving a letter from the MIM's Amravati president and attending party rallies. However, following the emergence of the serious allegations, many of these posts were subsequently deleted. The AIMIM party has officially distanced itself from Ayaz. Sayyed Mujeeb, the District President of AIMIM in Amravati, stated that Ayaz had no affiliation with the party and was only briefly involved in managing their social media accounts during the Achalpur Gram Panchayat elections. He was reportedly expelled from the party after the elections due to ineffective performance.
Ongoing Investigation
Following his arrest on Tuesday, April 14th, Mohammad Ayaz was presented before a court and remanded to seven days of police custody. The investigation has since expanded with the arrest of three additional suspects, including an individual named Uzer Khan. Both Ayaz and Uzer Khan have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crimes. Authorities have confiscated Ayaz's mobile phone, which is currently undergoing examination for crucial evidence. The police are actively probing whether the incriminating videos were shared among Ayaz's associates or within a wider network.
