Flights to Dubai Restart
Following a period of significant disruption due to regional conflicts, flight services between India and West Asia are beginning to normalize. Airlines
such as Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo have successfully recommenced operations to Dubai, a key hub. This resumption comes after obtaining necessary approvals from aviation authorities. While services to Dubai are now operational, it's important to note that flight routes to some other cities in the region may still be temporarily suspended due to ongoing airspace restrictions stemming from the recent conflict. The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the restart of flights to and from Dubai effective from 1600 hrs local time on March 18, 2026, signaling a positive step towards restoring regular air travel connectivity for passengers.
Scheduled West Asia Services
On March 19th, a substantial number of flights connecting India with West Asia are slated for operation. Specifically, Air India has planned a total of 48 flights for this day, serving the West Asian region. This comprehensive schedule includes 16 regular, scheduled flights that adhere to the usual operational patterns. Additionally, 32 flights are designated as non-scheduled services, indicating extra capacity or routes put in place to manage demand and restore connectivity. A significant portion of these flights will provide direct access to and from Dubai, reinforcing its role as a vital destination for travelers.
Phased Restoration by Other Airlines
Other airlines are also meticulously working to bring back their flight schedules. Akasa Air, after a thorough assessment of safety conditions, has initiated a phased restoration of its services. For instance, flights connecting Riyadh and Mumbai are scheduled to resume operations from the current day. The airline continues to maintain its services between Jeddah and several Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi, and Kozhikode. However, it's crucial to be aware that Akasa Air's flight operations to and from Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Kuwait will remain suspended until March 21st. This staggered approach reflects the careful planning involved in re-establishing routes amidst a complex geopolitical environment.
