Devastating Discovery
In a heartbreaking turn of events within the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, a local farming community experienced a profound tragedy. Two of their
beloved cows were fatally injured, and an additional six suffered significant harm after ingesting what authorities have identified as crude country bombs. These dangerous devices were reportedly concealed within the animals' fodder. The severity of the injuries, particularly to the jaws of the affected cattle, has been extensively documented by veterinary professionals. One of the injured animals was a pregnant cow, adding another layer of distress to an already grim situation. The medical assessments provided by Almighty Animal Care Trust paint a stark picture, indicating that the trauma was consistent with blast impact, leading to both mechanical damage and severe burns. The extensive tissue damage to crucial oral structures raises grave concerns, with a guarded to poor prognosis for the surviving animals due to the high risk of necrosis and subsequent infection.
Investigation Underway
Local law enforcement is actively pursuing leads to understand the circumstances surrounding this appalling incident. The initial suspicion among officials points towards the explosives being intended for wild boars, notorious for their crop-damaging habits in the region. However, this alleged intended use has regrettably resulted in immense suffering for innocent livestock. A senior police official confirmed that an investigation is in progress, noting that no formal complaint was lodged initially, and that similar incidents have occurred in the past. The complexity of the probe is reportedly exacerbated by a lack of complete clarity from some cattle owners, with claims that some of the injured animals had already been sold. Animal rights activist Sai Vignesh, who took the initiative to file a complaint, played a crucial role in rescuing the injured animals and arranging for their immediate treatment at a shelter, emphasizing the unacceptability of such cruelty and demanding stringent action.
