Cosmic Fireballs Defined
A meteor is a bright streak of light that appears when a meteoroid enters a planet's atmosphere, like Earth's! It's basically a space rock burning up due
to friction with the air. Imagine a celestial Diwali firework, but on a much grander scale. These are often called shooting stars.
The Science Behind It
When meteoroids, small space debris, hit Earth's atmosphere at high speeds, they compress the air in front of them. This compression heats the air immensely, causing the meteoroid to vaporize and glow. It's like the Agni of the sky, burning bright for all to see.
Sky Lights Up
The resulting glow, that fireball effect we observe, is why we see these beautiful streaks of light. A fireball meteor once lit up Japan's sky with a stunning blue light! If you're lucky, you might even spot one on a clear night in India.
