Box Office Success
The spy-thriller 'Dhurandhar,' directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, has achieved considerable success. It has grossed over Rs 829 crore,
placing it among the year's top-performing Hindi films. The film's cast also includes Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan. Even with newer releases each week, 'Dhurandhar' sustained its popularity, testament to its captivating narrative and star power. The film's theatrical run concluded on a high note, leading to heightened anticipation for its digital debut. The initial success paved the way for the film's upcoming streaming release, allowing audiences to experience the film in a new format.
Streaming Release Details
According to the OTTplay report, 'Dhurandhar' will soon be available online. The film is scheduled to premiere on Netflix starting January 30. This launch allows viewers to watch the spy drama from their homes. Before the digital release, analysts suggested that the filmmakers waited to maximize profits from the movie's theatrical run. According to 123Telugu, there were plans to release dubbed versions of 'Dhurandhar' in South Indian markets. However, the plan changed because of the crowded theatrical schedule during the Christmas season; hence, the focus shifted to an OTT-first approach.
The OTT Deal
The streaming deal is a significant achievement for 'Dhurandhar.' The makers have secured one of the most valuable OTT agreements for a Hindi film. Netflix has reportedly acquired streaming rights for 'Dhurandhar' and its sequel, 'Dhurandhar 2,' set for release in 2026, within a combined deal of around Rs 130 crore. This agreement marks a milestone in Ranveer Singh's career, highlighting his box-office draw and influence within the digital sphere. The collaboration highlights how successful movies are able to transition to a digital platform for a wider audience reach.
