Participants consistently showed greater empathy and romantic interest when exposed to the story-driven profiles, underscoring storytelling's potent impact on perceived connection and attraction.

The research's findings were consistent across all three experimental conditions, which included text-only profiles, photo-based profiles, and a combination of both. In each scenario, participants reported heightened empathy towards individuals whose profiles were presented as narratives, whether through written anecdotes or visuals depicting daily life activities like exercising or socializing. This increased empathy directly correlated with a greater sense of romantic interest.
