Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have been linked to potential collaborations on multiple occasions in the past. However, none of those projects eventually materialised. Their upcoming film now marks a fresh opportunity for the actor and filmmaker to work together.
As per a Filmfare report, Bhansali will produce Kareena Kapoor Khan’s next film, which will be directed by Aatish Kapadia. Kapadia has previously helmed the popular sitcom Khichdi and the 2017 film Chumbak. The project is expected to bring together a different combination of talent, with Kapadia at the helm and Bhansali backing the film.
Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan was recently spotted at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office amid reports that she is in talks to star in filmmaker S Mithran’s upcoming mythological jungle adventure. The film, which is planned as Mithran’s Hindi debut, is still in the early stages, with casting and the shooting schedule yet to be finalised. Dhanush is also expected to feature in the project, which Bhansali is reportedly producing.
Kareena And Bhansali’s Past Collaborations That Didn’t Happen
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali were earlier expected to collaborate on Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. The actor was also associated with another project with the filmmaker. However, neither collaboration came to fruition. With this upcoming film, the two are now reportedly set to work together, albeit with Bhansali as producer and Aatish Kapadia as director.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been gradually introducing the world of Love & War through striking first looks of its lead cast. Rather than revealing much about the storyline, the posters focus on establishing the mood, era and personalities of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Ranbir’s look leans into a vintage aesthetic, with slicked-back hair, sunglasses and a pencil moustache, while a bruised arm hints at the intensity surrounding his character. Alia, meanwhile, appears in a glamorous red-and-black ensemble, complete with an elaborate headpiece, giving her first look a theatrical, performance-driven feel.
Vicky’s posters take a darker, more brooding route. Seen smoking in one, he exudes an intense presence, while another image presents a more unusual, contemplative side with the actor seated in water and holding flowers. The film will hit theatres on January 21, 2027.
On the other hand, Kareena Kapoor Khan was recently seen in National Award winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra, which released on September 18, 2026. The crime thriller stars Kareena alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, with Kareena playing DCP Ajooni Kohli.
