next be seen in GDN, a biographical drama based on the life of Gopalswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, one of India's most remarkable inventors. While Madhavan has been selective about his Tamil film projects, his latest interview shows his understanding of Tamil Nadu politics. Speaking candidly, Madhavan shared his thoughts on Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay's remarkable political rise, reflected on his association with Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin, and also addressed whether he sees himself entering politics in the future.
Madhavan Reacts To CM Vijay And Udhayanidhi Stalin's Political Rise, Addresses Rumours Of Entering Politics
In an interview with Behindwoods TV, hosted by director KS Ravikumar, R Madhavan was asked how he viewed the current political scene in Tamil Nadu. To this, he said, "Lot of good is happening." When asked how it felt to see his colleague Vijay become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, he replied, "It gave us the belief that things can change this fast...and I know Vijay very well...in fact...now I should call him CM Vijay."
KS Ravikumar then recalled an interesting memory, revealing that Tamil Nadu's Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin had been associated on a film starring R Madhavan. He shared that Inban, Udhayanidhi's son, was around four years old at the time and would often sit on his lap and take photographs during the film's shoot. R Madhavan smiled in agreement and said the felt proud knowing about their growth.
For the unversed, R Madhavan starred in the 2010 film Manmadhan Ambu, directed by KS Ravikumar and written by Kamal Haasan. The film was produced and distributed by Red Giant Movies, owned by Udhayanidhi Stalin, and also featured Kamal Haasan and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles.
R Madhavan On Entering Politics And GDN
When asked whether he had any plans to enter politics, R Madhavan responded, "Not at all interested. To be in poltiics, one should have the heart to service people. But I dont think I have that quality. I feel I am selfish that way. I don't have an understanding towards it."
Vijay's political rise has been appreciated by several. His party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), secured 108 seats in the Assembly elections. He now faces Udhayanidhi Stalin, who transitioned from producing and acting in films to carrying forward his family's long-standing political legacy through the DMK.
Meanwhile, R Madhavan will be seen in biographical drama is based on the life of GD Naidu. Directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar the film also stars Jayaram, Priyamani and Yogi Babu which release in theatres on August 7.
