What is the story about?
With Dhurandhar 2 – The Revenge gearing up for its teaser launch. However, to dive into it, it is important to recall the intense, morally complex world
created in the first film. Led by Ranveer Singh in one of his darkest performances, Aditya Dhar directed Dhurandhar unfolded like a slow-burning political thriller that mixed espionage, organised crime, and psychological trauma. Set against the volatile Karachi underworld, the film steadily peeled back layers of deception, loyalty, and betrayal. As Part 2 promises to raise the stakes even higher, here are five crucial plot points from Dhurandhar that shape the battlefield Hamza Ali Mazari is about to return to.
Hamza Mazari’s undercover mission - Dhurandhar
At the heart of Dhurandhar is Indian undercover agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi, operating under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari. His mission is clear but dangerous: infiltrate the Karachi underworld run by feared Baloch mobster Rehman Dakait and dismantle his links with the ISI and powerful local politicians. Hamza earns Rehman’s trust, becoming his most loyal aide while secretly coordinating with SP Chaudhary Aslam and politician Jameel Jamali. The operation is not only physical infiltration, Hamza has to undergo psychological immersion, pushing him dangerously close to the criminal world he is meant to destroy.
The manufactured death of Rehman Dakait
The film’s most chilling sequence unfolds when Hamza lures Rehman into a trap set deep in the jungle. Alongside Chaudhary Aslam’s police team, Hamza ensures Rehman is left gravely injured but alive long enough to be taken to a hospital. There, Rehman is declared dead. What makes this moment explosive is Hamza’s performance afterward. He pretends to grieve publicly, portraying himself as the devoted lieutenant who tried everything to save his boss. The deception is flawless. Rehman’s gang, his brother Uzhair, and the public all believe Hamza’s loyalty, sealing his rise within the underworld. Dhurandhar 2 - The Revenge is all set to explore that.
The moral collapse behind closed doors
After the mission’s apparent success, the film shifts inward. Hamza returns home covered in blood to his wife Yalina (politcian Jameel's daughter). In a raw, emotionally devastating scene, he breaks down in her arms, exposing the trauma of killing non-stop. This moment strips away the spy facade and reveals a man fractured by violence and duty. His confession raises a haunting question that defines the film’s ending - Is Hamza really crying, reeling in the aftermath of his murderous spree, or is it a tool to fool Yalina? Hamza and Yalina's relationship is all set to be explored in the next part.
Operation Dhurandhar’s true scope revealed
The film’s biggest twist arrives quietly. Hamza's hidden diary reveals names written in invisible ink. Rehman Dakait’s name confirms the primary objective is complete, but the next page exposes something far larger. Names of ISI major Iqbal and other military and terror figures appear, proving Rehman was only Phase One. Operation Dhurandhar is revealed as a long-term covert war designed by IB chief Ajay Sanyal to dismantle Pakistan’s terror infrastructure from within its criminal ecosystem. The next part promises revenge and only revenge!
Hamza’s promise of revenge and Jaskeerat Singh Rangi's story
Rehman’s death leaves a power vacuum and Hamza will likely step into it. Backed by politicians, trusted by the Baloch community, and owing favours from the police, he will become Karachi’s new kingpin. The final scenes confirm Phase Two is imminent. Hamza now has access, autonomy, and authority to hunt down the names on the list.Iqbal is upset that Rahman Baloch died because he was counting on him to attack India - so what happens when he gets to know Hamza was behind it? Chaudhary Aslam already knows Hamza killed Rahman Dakait, and in part 1, 'Bade Sahab' was first mentioned by him. Who is Bade Sahab and how is he connected? We will finally see the man behind the killing machine - Hamza when he was Jaskirat Singh Rangi. What made him this deadly spy that he has become? With rumours of Vicky Kaushal having a cameo in Part 2, the world of Dhurandhar has just gotten more interesting.
With Dhurandhar 2 - The Revenge set for a March 19, 2026 release, it is primed to dive very deep into this brutal, morally grey war where loyalty is a weapon and power comes at a devastating cost.
