Jyotika and Suriya are powerhouses of talent and there is no doubt about that. While being brilliant in their profession, they make for a stunning couple
too. The actors, who are evidently ageing in reverse, have completed 20 years of their marriage. Suriya and Jyotika celebrated their 20th anniversary with their children, Diya and Dev, along with other family members and friends. The Kollywood couple renewed vows on September 11 and shared a beautiful and emotional video on Instagram. In the video, Suriya could be seen getting teary-eyed after seeing Jyotika in her white gown.

Suriya and Jyotika renewed their vows in the presence of Diya and Dev, who helped their parents dress up for the White Wedding at a church. Sharing the video, their caption read, “A vow renewal, celebrating our 20 years of love and war. And no, this is not a celebration of a perfect marriage. This is a celebration of imperfections, of adjustments, of understanding, sacrifices, of loving each other selflessly. This is a celebration of “us”. The people we have become for each other.”
Jyotika's vows
It further read, “How ironical, a dream which felt far from reality, is now a reality I will spend my entire lifetime dreaming of! So here are my vows.”
Jyotika listed her vows: I vow to be a happy person — because I choose to see only life's positive side. I vow to celebrate life — because life itself is a gift when the man whom you love, respects you beyond himself. I vow never to complain- Why should I ? when even something as vast as the sky doesn’t have the privilege of touching the ground! Look around , everything in existence is incomplete. It’s how we choose to fill the gaps. I vow to be thankful - as every morning I wake in the arms of a man who protects me, and for my beautiful children who've given my life a meaning. And me, a reason to live.
Jyotika further vowed to be healthy, be the best mother ‘because I smile, a smile that makes my children want to relive the story their appa amma lived.’ She added, “I vow, my Suriya, to always remain that imperfect wife, who fights, and then makes up, only to grow a little more closer to you each time.”
She ended the caption by writing, "So here’s to our next twenty years — The imperfect us, with the perfect understanding."
Jyotika and Suriya's marriage
Jyotika and Suriya worked together in multiple films. They met in 1999 while shooting for Poovellam Kettuppar. The couple went on to act in Uyirile Kalanthathu, Kaakha Kaakha, Perazhagan, and Sillunu Oru Kaadhal. They tied the knot in 2006. After marriage, Jyotika took a break from acting. She and Suriya have two children: daughter Diya (born 2007) and son Dev (born 2010).
