Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor’s O’ Romeo became one of the most-awaited films of the year after its recently released teaser grabbed major eyeballs
online. Reportedly based on the life of Mumbai gangster Hussain Ustara, a known rival of crime lord Dawood Ibrahim, the action film is said to be inspired by true events and allegedly revolves around Ustara and Sapna Didi’s revenge story. Amid the reports, Ustara’s daughter has sent a legal notice to producer Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and others. Hussain Ustara's Daughter Sends Legal Notice To O' Romeo Makers Sanober, daughter of Hussain Sheikh, has questioned the portrayal of her father and sought Rs 2 crores in damages for alleged harm to her family’s reputation. She has also demanded that the makers halt the film’s release until her concerns are addressed. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, “The letter has been addressed to producer Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and director Vishal Bhardwaj last week. It claims that O’Romeo probably shows Hussain Ustara in a bad light, thereby impacting the family’s reputation. Hence, she has asked for Rs 2 crores for the same. Along with the monetary demand, Sanober has also reportedly requested the makers to halt or cancel the film’s release until her concerns are addressed to her satisfaction.” Is O' Romeo Based On Hussain Ustra? Ustara was a Mumbai gangster, known for his rivalry with Dawood Ibrahim. Reports suggest that filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj had written a script inspired by his life years ago. Whether O' Romeo is based on the same story is currently unclear. While the makers added an “inspired by true events” disclaimer in the teaser, an official confirmation about Shahid Kapoor’s character is still awaited. According to an official press release, he plays "a hitman who develops feelings for Afsha (Triptii Dimri's character), Ustara is drawn into a game of betrayal, love and vengeance. Shahid’s menacing and killer look with a bold avatar brings the depth and passion that is the highlight of O’ Romeo." O' Romeo, also starring Triptii Dimri, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vikrant Massey, Avinash Tiwary and Nata Patekar, is slated to release on February 13.
