The much-anticipated War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has finally arrived, and its first review is already out. Early reactions suggest the high-octane
spy thriller almost lives up to the hype. It, apparently, surpasses Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 in terms of action and storytelling. However, there’s still a catch! War 2 First Review Out A South exhibitor described it as prioritising style over substance, with a familiar narrative that fails to fully exploit its potential. Although the lead performances are commendable, the emotional depth is lacking. Despite solid production values, some visual effects fell short. Venky tweeted on Thursday: "#War2 is a strictly mediocre action thriller, leaning heavily on style over substance! The storyline is somewhat different from the previous spy universe films, which had potential but wasn’t able to fully capitalize on it. Though the storyline might vary, the tempo of the other films remains the same, which makes it feel pretty ordinary and routine." He added, "The film did have a solid setup, which worked in its favor. A few good blocks like the introduction sequences, the dance number, and a few twists worked well. However, the emotion and potential highs in the core story weren’t executed properly. Both lead actors performed their roles well and were apt for their characters, but nothing they haven’t done before. Their performances in the climax stand out." "The production values are good, but there are some VFX shots that look shoddy, especially during a boat chase sequence. The BGM had scope to be a lot better. It is better than the previous Tiger 3, but is still just mid," concluded the insider and gave the film a rating of 2.5/5 stars.
