on Diwali this year. While fans wait to witness Ranbir as Lord Ram, the actor is busy contemplating his next big project. According to a recent report, Ranbir is currently juggling Ramayana and Love & War, both of which are expected to be completed by October 2026. Even before wrapping these films, he has started looking ahead and planning what to take up next before moving on to Animal Park.
Ranbir Kapoor to choose amongst Dhoom 4, Brahmastra 2 as next?
According to a report in Pinkvilla,Ranbir has been going through several scripts with the aim of finalising a project that can begin before Animal Park, which is tentatively scheduled to go on floors towards the end of 2027. At the moment, two big-ticket films have emerged as strong contenders, Brahmastra 2, helmed by Ayan Mukerji, and Dhoom 4, the reboot backed by Yash Raj Films.The source further shared that Ranbir has already heard the basic ideas of both films and is intrigued by the scale and worlds they promise. However, he is waiting to read the final, bound scripts before committing. Both projects, though, come with their own set of hurdles.
What we know about Dhoom 4, Brahmastra 2?
Dhoom 4 is still in its early stages, with the studio yet to lock in a director. On the other hand, Brahmastra 2 is facing casting challenges. The sequel, which continues its fantasy storyline, was initially expected to feature Deepika Padukone as Amrita opposite Ranbir’s Dev. But with Deepika currently expecting her second child, the team is now considering alternative casting options for the role.Despite these roadblocks, Ranbir is said to be excited about both films. At present, Brahmastra 2 appears to have a slight edge as his next project. That said, things in the industry can shift quickly, and several factors still need to fall into place before the film can begin production. The report says that a clearer choice should be made by June 2026, after Ranbir has read the final drafts. In the meantime, he is still keeping his options open by meeting with filmmakers and coming up with new ideas during breaks in his busy schedule. He really wants to lock in a strong project to fill the time between Ramayana 2 and Animal Park.
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga wants to start filming Animal Park by the end of 2027. He has already talked to Ranbir about the movie several times.
