Within just five days, Karuppu crossed Rs 161 crore in worldwide gross collections, overtaking some of Suriya's other films to become his highest-grosser globally. Strong collections across Tamil Nadu, overseas markets, and Telugu-speaking regions have also helped the film.
Karuppu Emerges as Suriya’s Highest-Grossing Film, Surpasses These 5 Movies
Karuppu has turned into a major theatrical success for Suriya. Positive word-of-mouth, impressive audience occupancy rates in theatres, and good verdict from overseas market have helped the film emerge as one of the biggest Tamil hits of the year. Within five days of release, the film crossed Rs 80 crore in India net collections and touched Rs 161.04 crore in worldwide gross earnings, according to trade estimates. The achievement has made Karuppu Suriya’s highest-grossing film globally, surpassing the long-standing record held by Singam 2.

Karuppu – Rs 161.04 crore (after 5 days)
Singam 2 – Rs 122.8 crore
24 – Rs 108.9 crore
7 Aum Arivu – Rs 105.2 crore
Anjaan – Rs 83.55 crore
Trade experts say that Karuppu could soon become Suriya’s first Rs 200 crore grosser, with some even predicting a possible Rs 300 crore lifetime run if the current growth continues. Recently Trisha also took to social media to share BTS image from the film, which coincides with the films success.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister congratulates Team Karuppu
The team behind Karuppu recently met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay at his office. The makers later shared a photograph from the meeting on the film’s official X (formerly Twitter) page, expressing happiness over the Chief Minister extending his wishes for the film’s success. Vijay also congratulated producer S R Prabhu on the movie’s strong box office performance. Apart from Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, the film features a supporting cast including Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, and Supreeth Reddy.The success of Karuppu has also provided much-needed boost to the Tamil film industry in 2026, especially at a time when several big releases struggled at the box office. Ahead of upcoming films like Jana Nayagan and Jailer 2, Karuppu has emerged as a commercial success for Kollywood.
