What is the story about?
Malayalam director and screenwriter Sreenivasan passed away on 20 December, at the age of 69. He had been undergoing treatment at his residence in Udayamperoor
for a long-term illness. Condolences for the the legend, who was also a actor and producer, have been pouring in following his demise. Among them, actor Rajinikanth expressed his deep sadness upon hearing about Sreenivasan's death. The Superstar, spoke about his admiration for Sreenivasan, recalling that he was his classmate from the film institute.
Rajinikanth Mourns Death Of Sreenivasan
In a voice note, he said, "It is shocking to know that my good friend Sreenivasan is no more. He was my classmate in the film institute that I studied in. He is an excellent actor and a very good human being. Let his soul rest in peace."
An alumnus of the esteemed MGR Government Film and Television Training Institute (formerly known as the Adyar Film Institute), he shared a close bond with Tamil cinema icon Rajinikanth. Interestingly, their friendship dates back to their early struggle days, long before Rajinikanth became the megastar he is today.
About Sreenivasan
Born on 6 April 1956 in Patyam, near Thalassery, Kerala, Sreenivasan was the son of a school teacher and a homemaker. He completed his school education in Kadirur and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from PRNSS College, Mattanur before pursuing film training at the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu, Chennai.
Sreenivasan made his acting debut in 1977 with PA Backer’s Manimuzhakkam. Since its positive reception, he went on to become one of Malayalam cinema’s most respected actors. He worked for nearly five decades, appearing in over 225 films, gaining acclaim for his sharp social satire and memorable performances. He received numerous accolades, including National Film Awards, Kerala State Film Awards, Filmfare Awards South, and several lifetime achievement recognitions for his contributions as a writer, actor, and filmmaker.
