According to reports published by Dinamalar, government school officials have allegedly received instructions not to play songs from films featuring Thalapathy Vijay during annual day celebrations. Instead, students have reportedly been asked to perform to alternative tracks that are not associated with the actor’s movies. However, no official confirmation has been issued publicly regarding this. The development comes at a politically sensitive time.Vijay launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, on February 2, 2024. The party is preparing to contest its first major electoral battle in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. The actor is currently going several hurdles. His much-anticipated film Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, has faced delays due to certification issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The film Jana Nayagan considered Vijay’s final film before focusing entirely on politics, has been caught legal hurdles. The team initially approached the Madras High Court to expedite the censor process and later moved to the Supreme Court, which declined to intervene. Later, the makers withdrew the case and decided to approach the revising committee. Jana Nayagan was initially scheduled for release during Pongal 2026 but was postponed due to censorship certificate delays. Produced by KVN Productions, the film directed by H Vinoth stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj and Priyamani.
On the personal front, Sangeetha Sornalingam, wife of actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay, has approached a Chengalpattu court seeking divorce. The petition, filed under the Special Marriage Act, alleges grounds of adultery and mental cruelty. According to the filing, the affair in question is said to have begun in 2021 and continued despite promises that it would end. The plea seeks the formal dissolution of their marriage, along with requests for privacy during proceedings through in-camera hearings and a claim for alimony.
