Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The first trailer of the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, co-directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, features a who's who of characters from previous Marvel and X-Men films. Several actors are reprising their roles for the massive superhero sequel, including Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X and the new Fantastic Four. Avengers: Doomsday trailer features a reunion between Thor and Captain America
Doomsday is coming! The first trailer of the upcoming Avengers sequel puts together a massive team that must band together to save the world. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) takes the role as the de facto leader and tells the gathered superheroes, "I fought with many warriors in my time; they were far stronger than all of us put together, and they died. They died facing enemies and threats. They scare me far less than this one."
Thor warns that their previous sacrifices will be for nothing if they do not stand together now. He urges them to put aside their petty squabbles and fight. The two-minute and 26-second trailer ends in an epic reunion as Thor is faced with the return of his old friend Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). His war hammer Mjolnir passes easily to Captain America, who is almost unrecognisable in a beard and regular clothes. There is a small glimpse of Thor taking on Doom, but the masked villain seems ready for the attack.

The new trailer shows viewers the first glimpse of the team that will go up against Doctor Doom. From the new Fantastic Four, Paul Rudd's Ant Man, Florence Pugh's Yelena, the Wakandans and even the return of the original X-Men, the superhero cast of Doomsday hits hard. The film releases in theatres on December 18, 2026.
Written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, Doomsday's story will wrap up in the sequel Secret Wars, which is expected to release in 2028. Producer Kevin Feige has confirmed that it will not be split into two films. The Russo Brothers will also be directing the sequel, which is due to begin filming soon. More details are awaited from Marvel's Comic-Con panel being held on July 25.
