What is the story about?
It’s been an eventful year for Ranveer Singh. After the humongous success of Dhurandhar in December 2025, he returned to the big screen with the second
part of the franchise in March. Just when people were settling down from the film’s impact, he and Deepika Padukone announced that they will be welcoming their second baby this year. However, amid all these joyous occasions, Singh was entangled in a feud with the makers of Don 3. Just a few weeks before commencing the shoot, the actor backed out, reportedly due to creative differences with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
Don 3 case explained
Many reports claimed that he walked out of the Excel Entertainment project after Dhurandhar’s success and prioritised Pralay. While the Jai Mehta film is yet to go on floors, Don 3’s producers sought the Federation of Western India Cine Employees’ help to seek compensation from Ranveer. The amount is said to be Rs 45 crore. Moreover, the FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against the Dhurandhar star.
Pralay not affected by FWICE's non-cooperation directive
As uncertainty around the Don 3 case looms, a source close to Pralay told Bombay Times that FWICE’s decision will not affect the film. Confirming Pralay is on the right track, the source shared that the shoot goes on floors in August.
All you need to know about Pralay
As per reports, Pralay follows the story of the protagonist's fight for survival. Jai is likely to use the zombie framework to explore social, emotional and moral collapse. The film might reimagine Mumbai in The Hunger Games style set-up. Pralay might release in the latter half of 2027.
Kalyani Priyadarshan to make Bollywood debut?
According to reports, Kalyani Priyadarshan is playing the lead opposite Ranveer. On January 3, the actress shared a picture on Instagram Story and tagged Jai, the director of Pralay. The novel that she was reading was titled Blindness by José Saramago. Kalyani thanked Jai for the gift. The novel’s synopsis read, “In a provocative parable of loss, disorientation, and weakness, a city is hit by an epidemic of 'white blindness' whose victims are confined to a vacant mental hospital, while a single eyewitness to the nightmare guides seven oddly assorted strangers through the barren urban landscape.”
Pralay is said to be the screen adaptation of Blindness by José Saramago. The cast, besides Ranveer, hasn’t been confirmed or officially announced.
